I was very excited to create a short VFX-scene for the well known german show "Tatort".
The task was a replacement of a normal leg through a leg stump. The actor was sitting on his shank
on a soft flexible mattress.
I tracked the green marker on the leg to get position data of the original movement in order to transform these data onto a rough 3D model. From a still frame of that clip i made a leg stump texture for the later projetion on that 3D model to get a realistic look. Of course... then there was still much rotoscoping to do and much meshwarping and patching to fill up empty space because of the new thinner leg. Therefor i had a cleanplate for every shot. At the end i added shadows and irritations to the skin of the 3D model to combine the vfx and original footage.
